Handy Man Vacation Part 2

So after happy bourbon sampling, we trotted down the road a piece to the Abbey of Gethsemane in Trappist, Ky on Monk's Road no less.  I don't know why I didn't take my camera, as it is a beautiful area. It it no way compares, in my humble opinion, to the Sister's Monastery in Ferdinand, but a peaceful  place. The only bourbon to be found was in their fruitcakes.  We did sample their wares.
As we were weaving through the bluegrass on our way to see the Trappist monk's abode, I saw a sign for Lincoln's Boyhood home.  I actually have never been to any Lincoln memorial except the one in D.C.. Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky all claim him. We were in no hurry, so we headed to Hodgenville to see what we could see.  If you cock your head to the right, this picture straightens up a bit. Hmm, or is it to the left?   Inside this beautiful building is Lincoln's cabin. Well, it is actually, they later discovered, someone else's cabin.

But, don't ya know, it  is "probably" just very much like Lincoln's cabin.  Okay.

My mostest favorite part.  I've long dreamed of a piece of property wherein the creek was fed by a natural spring.  That way I would never have to worry about whatever interesting object the upstream neighbor thoughtlessly tossed in, like wheels, car parts, oil, etc.
A spring like this would have spelled failure for this pioneer girl.  As you walked down to it the temperature seemed to change forty degrees. It was deliciously cool and green.  I would have gone for water  on those hot and humid days, and never returned.
Speaking of water.  Tuesday's Playdate was the wettest Playdate on record.  Oh my.  Thankfully, mostly rain, little storming, so rain and mud play were the order of the day.  What fun and what a mess.
But that will have to wait.
