A New Love

Recently I've discovered lots of blogs with how-to's for items using wool roving. I've been intrigued, and had a hard time believing it was as simple to use as it seemed. Then I found a little bluebird needle felting kit I just couldn't resist, so I gave it a whirl, and was pleasantly surprised by the ease of wool needle felting, but even more surprised by how lovely it is to work with the wool. It is certainly a warming activity to endeavor on a cold winter night.
Recently I found this tutorial for a little angel doll through Rhythm of the Home and decided to give it whirl with the leftovers from Mr. Bluebird. I need something warm with this sudden drop into the teens.

First you pull off a piece of the wool and roll it into a ball and poke in the felting needle round and round and make the head.
Okay, I can do that.
Now wrap some more roving over the head and poke the needle around for a neck.

Roll up another piece around the hanging down part to make the body.

Now make tiny rolls for each arm. Pull off some more and needle felt to the waist for a skirt. Turn over and needle felt some wings on the back. Give your little missy angel a wee halo and she's all done.
What a cutest bit of sweetness.

I'm in love.
