Hoarding

Tonight marks the end of my fall break that was much needed and appreciated.  I decided to spend the entire ten days hoarding friendship and conversation.  It was a banner cooking week.  I think I had everyone and my brother.  I cooked for someone for lunch and or supper every single day but Thursday.

Susie was in town to care for Aunt Tish, so I got to feed them both and spend some time together.  They fed me once as well.  Last night I had my friends from St. Paul and my Playdate people today.

I was trying to explain the dinosaur activity, how we made fossils with a little dinosaur inside. I still had a couple from when I did it first with the gramerlings so I let them do their own excavating.  My precious 87  year old was as thrilled as my littles.

Today Michael noticed this little prehistoric looking baby and we enjoyed getting a good look at him.

Susie and Tish cut napkins for a project I'm doing with cans. Rae helped with a few more.  Since I looped with the same kids I'm having to come up with some new stuff and I try it out (like the fossils) with the Playdate group so I can work out the kinks. Or sometimes I must  acknowledge that it is not a good choice for doing by myself with 17. I think we can manage this one.

Jimi hasn't been able to come out for several weeks, but he made it today, which always makes me happy.

Earlier in the week, a friend stopped by. I was in the process of sorting the advent books.  Since we have no more babies, I passed a few of the little board books onto her.   It is always emotional for me to let the baby stuff go. It is so much easier to hand it off to a little one.

I believe about 45 came, ate and went over the past ten days.  I am hoping I'm stocked up for awhile.  I try not to worry about what in the world I'll do with myself when it is too cold to entertain outside, but it's sort of ever riding shotgun in the back of my mind. I need to take to people like I need to eat.

So back to school tomorrow.  School has been hard this year.  I am not quite ready to go back, even though the kids are rarely off my mind and I would much rather teach in person than via Google Classroom. Still.  I hope they are all back tomorrow and healthy.
